According to the Economic Times, the government is preparing to link the caste and income statement to Aadhaar. The government says it will ensure that 60 lakh people belonging to socially and economically backward castes receive a stipend. Once the caste and income certificates are linked to Aadhaar, the computerized verification system will help the government reach the correct beneficiary.

The decision was made after a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s secretaries, ET quoted a government official as saying. In this meeting, it was proposed to fully digitize the scholarship system for the post-matric (X) children of the Scheduled Castes. Following this suggestion, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has set the target of implementing this scheme in the current financial year.
This move by the Modi government in the Center has many political implications. At this point, most people are not even aware that they get a scholarship from the government before or after 10th grade. In many cases, the ministry linked the same bank accounts of 10 and 12 students, indicating that the accounts are maintained by the institute and have nothing to do with the students.
But now, after being linked to Aadhaar, the scholarship will reach every student’s account through direct benefit transfer. The BJP can also take advantage of the upcoming elections, such as in the recent elections in Uttar Pradesh, by transferring the benefits of government schemes directly into the people’s account.
According to an Economic Times report, the central government is preparing to link caste and income certificates to the Aadhaar card across the country. In fact, scholarships are offered by the government to people of many castes across the country.
