In another Council of Ministers decision aimed at addressing the teacher shortage in colleges, government colleges were given the power to engage the services of retired college and university teachers (Seventh Pay Commission). The government of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has authorized to implement the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission for teachers. The statement further said that this government decision will benefit all teachers of state universities, government colleges and government-supported private colleges and other employees working in the same framework (7th Payroll Commission).
